What To Expect At Initial Appointment With Houston Dentist?

fake-dental-appointmentThere are many things that we are new to in life and we don’t know what we are going to experience until it actually happens. No one knows how they will react to certain things, until those certain things surface and they are acted upon. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just know what to expect even though you haven’t ever experienced such a thing. Well going to a dentist’s office for the first time can be quite a nervous experience if you don’t know what to expect. Here are a few things that you can be ready to expect at your first dental appointment.

Medical History

The first thing that any physician usually wants from their patient is their medical history. Knowing what you have been through medically previously is something that the doctor really needs to know before being able to actually tend to the patient. You wouldn’t want your doctor prescribing you something that you can’t take with diabetes, if you have diabetes.

Actual Meeting with Dentist

This is probably the most obvious of the expectations that you would have when you first go to a dentist. You have to meet the person that will be working on your teeth for however many years to come. As long as they are friendly, cheerful, and inattentive to what is going on, you will be fine.

Visual Check

The dentist will sometimes do a visual check of your teeth. To make sure that you do not have any sort of cavities or diseases the dentist will take a look with a mirror and other various utensils (probe, diagnodent, intra-oral camera, x-ray). Don’t worry, not shots are coming out on this step.

As the dentist and their assistants are taking a look at your teeth, they will be charting every bit of information that they can of your teeth to better understand what is going in there. You want a dentist to take a good look at your mouth and record everything that he/she is catching on to.

When you walk into the office of Dr. Marilyn K Jones these are things that you should expect the first time. Not only should you expect these things, but you should also expect great top notch service. 1. My wife is in terrible pain, her face, neck are swollen. She was in such pain that one of the dentist in the office where she takes our son worked on her and has her scheduled for surgery this Wednesday – apparently the swelling needs to go down. For years, I’ve wanted her to to see a biological dentist because she can never get well, there is always another medical problem that comes up and always treated the same way, with more prescription drugs. This has been going on for the past 25 – she never gets well because there is always another medical condition that springs up. But at this moment, its a tooth and she is in terrible pain, its infected, her neck and face are swollen and I finally convinced her to see a biological dentist – as I think there is a good possibility the cause for her many medical issues could be dental/tooth related. Anyway, she needs immediate, acute medical/dental care.

    • Jeffery, please feel free to get in touch with our office or that of a reputable biological dentist near you, to explore resolving some of the issues your wife has been dealing with.

  2. I would like to become a patient of Dr. Jones as soon as possible. I’m hoping she’s available on Saturday’s due to me having to work Monday through Friday. I have gone to 2 general dentists and they have both told me that I need a root canal on one of my molars. A root canal is something I do not plan on getting. I want to see if there’s something else that Dr. Jones will suggest apart from RCT. Do you offer any special discounts to new patients? Do you offer payment plan options?
